More Information

From a Sleep Engineering perspective, when we analyse pillows, we look at perceptions of comfort, and luxury, and without doubt, down filled pillows meet that criteria. In addition, we look at breathability, temperature regulation and humidity control, and again Down is an excellent performer. Arguably though, the most important criteria for good sleep, is the ability of the pillow to support your head and allow for good spinal alignment when using it. The Triple Chamber Down pillow is an optimised solution for that purpose. The Inner chamber with higher feather content, provides a firmer core, that is then augmented by the softer, higher down content outer. Overall, it is an exceptional advancement that successfully combines the best features of down, with the need for more effective support.

back sleeper

Choosing the right pillow is one of the most important aspects of creating the best possible sleep for you. It is not only a matter of comfort preference; the right pillow also depends on what position you most commonly sleep in, and the metrics of your individual sizing, particularly neck length and shoulder width. When we assist our clients in finding the right pillow, achieving spinal alignment is paramount, as is maximising your airflow for healthy comfortable sleep.
If you are a back sleeper, we salute you! Back sleeping is widely acknowledged to be the best position for long term sleep and wellbeing. Optimised breathing, spinal care, and pressure reduction are all benefitted by back sleeping. It is something we should all try and do, so the question really is why don’t we? The answer is because it is not comfortable enough for most of us, which in our opinion is a result of improper mattresses, pillows, and bed bases. The key to using a pillow for back sleeping is that it has to support your head upwards (ever tried lying flat on your back without a pillow? Ow!), but it must not take your head too far upwards. It has to be just right. So there is no, ‘one size fits all’, and as with most pillows, it is a function of your size, and your comfort preference for firm, hard, or responsive cushioning.

side sleeper

Choosing the right pillow is one of the most important aspects of creating the best possible sleep for you. It is not only a matter of comfort preference; the right pillow also depends on what position you most commonly sleep in, and the metrics of your individual sizing, particularly neck length and shoulder width. When we assist our clients in finding the right pillow, achieving spinal alignment is paramount, as is maximising your airflow for healthy comfortable sleep.
Side sleeping is the most common sleeping position. Our perspective is that the loft (i.e the height), the edge contouring, and the firmness are the principal factors relevant to a good side sleeping pillow. It is critical that the pillow be the right height/loft for your individual shape, to keep your head supported and spine aligned. This is affected by both the width of your shoulders, and the extent to which you mattress is absorbing your shoulder zone. If you can find the right height, then comfort can be a matter of preference as to the degree of firmness, bounce, and response of the pillow with the purpose of keeping your head supported at the right elevation. For side sleeping, the pillow needs to ‘fit’ within the gap of your neck (to your shoulder), and therefore the shape and side contouring of the pillow can deliver a wonderfully snug fit, and absolute perfection for side sleeping.
