Camel Lux All Seasons

The RESTED Camel Lux duvet is our most prestige natural thermoregulating duvet for discerning customers who require natural performance and luxury quality.

Camel down(also called Camel fur or wool) may sound unusual, and often inspires thoughts of the coarse hair of desert camels. To the contrary, Camel down is exceptionally soft fur provided from the underlayer of the altitude dwelling Bactrian Camel. An animal that is extremely well adapted to enormous fluctuations in temperature. The unique natural abilities of the Camel Wool fibre keep the Camel cool in the day and warm at night. A natural and highly effective system for regulating body temperature and exactly what we were looking for in respect of a dynamic thermoregulating duvet.

The Camel down is harvested only once per year, during the spring 'shedding' season by hand combing, and is thus entirely sustainable and ethical.

  • Luxurious 100% Cotton Sateen hand finished outer.
  • Perfect for partner sharing - reacts to your individual body temperature.
  • Cool in the summer, warm in the winter. Natural dynamic thermoregulation at it's very best.

In making a 100% Camel Down, + 100% Cotton Duvet, our development team set about experimentation with different weight fillings. We do that testing here in the UK, seasonally, as our goal is to provide a duvet that is appropriate for the entire year. Thus the fill weight at 1750gsm has been carefully determined relative to the British Climate, to keep you at just the right temperature across all seasons, making this the ultimate luxury duvet.

As with all of our products at RESTED, whilst we make them available for purchase online, we always strongly recommend visiting the showroom so that you can experience the duvet in person before purchasing.

More Information

When comparing Camel down to our other luxury 'naturals' we regard it as the most balanced and most luxurious option. Regarding the crimp and therefore volume of the fibre, it sits between the flatness of silk and the highly crimped bounciness of Merino - therefore offering in our view a perfect sensation of lightweight cosiness that feels cloud like and comforting, without being overly voluminous.
Due to the nature of the Camel Fibres, which are hollow, air-filled matrices this makes them excellent insulators. With a very similar structure to the mohair/cashmere/merino, it is a thermoregulator due to the adaptive outer spines of the fibre. Only with Camel down, it is finer and flatter than other wools, making it a true luxury.
At RESTED we are particularly proud of our Camel Duvets, not only on account of their performance and luxury, but because as a natural material, it is extremely ethical as it is naturally shed by the Camel. It is entirely cruelty free, sustainable, and for that matter biodegradable at the end of its life.

Sleep Engineering doesn't have to be overly technical. When considering our quilt ranges, standard UK 'tog' measures are largely inappopriate as most of our quilts are temperature regulating and therefore can not be classified with 'tog'. Our quilts react to you and your body temperature. So we try and keep things simple. Summer soft means that the quilt is lightweight and suitable for those that sleep in consistent temperature environments year round (i.e you use the heating in the winter). Our 'winter warmth' ranges are heavier, warmer, and suitable for the coldest months, and anyone who would naturally say that they require a high level of warmth from their quilt. In practice, the choise is easy and self evident, particulary in person at the Rested Experience.
